The newly appointed Upper West Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party Alhaji Abdul Rahman Abdul Aziz, popularly known as Alhaji White and the Regional Secretary, Dr. Tanko Daniel Dauda, in the company of the family of the late Regional Chairman, Saabanye Basilide Kangberee, visited the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to officially inform him of the demise and funeral arrangements.
As custom demand, the delegation officially communicated the passing of the Mr. Kangberee to the president as well as funeral arrangements. They also use the opportunity to duly invite the president to these scheduled activities.
Following the passing of Mr. Kangberee, the party has effected some changes at the leadership front to ensure continuity. The changes saw businessman and 1st Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Abdul Rahman Abdul Aziz has been made the substantive Regional Chairman of the party.
Alhaji Mohammed Aziz Gado who was 2nd Vice Chairman is now 1st Vice Chairman while Dr. Tanko Daniel Dawda, Regional Secretary also doubles as the Acting Regional 2nd Vice Chairman.
The change in leadership was disclosed in a letter dated June 13, 2024, after a meeting by the Regional Executive Committee.
Chairman Kangbaree before his demise was 76 years of age.
His one-week celebration is set to happen on Saturday, 29th June,2024 at Christ The King Catholic Church Cantonments, Accra at 8 am.
