The vice president Dr. Mamudu Bawumia has commissioned an ultramodern mosque he funded for the people of Sorbelle in the Sissala West District of the Upper West region. Dr Bawumia pledged to construct the place of worship in the early part of the NPP administration and lived up to his promise by fully funding the project.
Though the mosque was completed years ago, it was not commissioned for use due to the busy schedules of the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
As part of his schedule on Saturday, June 29, 2024, Dr Bawumia attended the funeral of the late Gwollu Kuoro, Limann Buktie. He used the opportunity to commission the project.
The commissioning brought together several people including some Gandawii Chiefs.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Vice President also pledged to facilitate the performance of hajj for three people including the community chief.
“I cannot build a mosque in this community and not produce Alhajis. Issha Allah, if I win power come 2024, I will send a man, woman and the chief to Mecca for Hajj” the vice president promised.
The community gifted the vice president a smock with a hat and thanked him for delivering on his promise.
