Recent images featuring Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia alongside the CEO of defunct DKM Financial Services, Martin Delle have ignited significant public debate.
The photos, which surfaced on social media, have drawn varied reactions, considering DKM’s controversial past involving financial mismanagement and the resulting loss of savings for numerous clients.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia met Martin Delle, the CEO of the now-defunct DKM Microfinance, in Nandom during his campaign tour of the Upper West Region.
During a courtesy call to the Paramount Chief of Nandom, Martin Delle was seen presenting a smock to Dr. Bawumia at the Chief’s palace.
Critics argue that the association between Dr. Bawumia and the DKM boss could potentially harm the Vice President’s reputation, given the financial scandal that tarnished DKM’s name.
Supporters of the governing NPP, however, insist that the photos do not imply any wrongdoing or endorsement, urging the public to refrain from making hasty judgments.
Martin Delle was arrested for fraud in 2015 following the closure of DKM Microfinance. Several people lost their investments and are yet to receive payment.
