The Overlord of the Waala Traditional Area, Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, has initiated a fund with a seed capital of GHC 5000 to support the formation and operations of community watchdog committees in the Wa Municipality of the Upper West Region.

In a meeting with stakeholders, including opinion leaders and youth on Thursday, 25th July 2024, he appealed for financial and logistical support to enhance the efforts of these committees.

Recently, Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV inaugurated the watchdog committees to assist the police in providing night security as part of measures to address the issue of serial killings in the municipality.

The spokesperson of the Overlord of the Waala Traditional Area, Jinpenhi Naa Kadiri Ibrahim, speaking at the gathering, urged residents to refrain from discussing the committee’s activities publicly to prevent compromising their efforts in solving the serial killings.

He emphasized the need for discretion, noting that the perpetrators could be indigenes, strangers, or an amalgamation of both. The overlord also advised against public speculation about the arrest of any suspect related to the serial killings, urging the community to support the police in their investigations.

Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV highlighted the importance of logistical and financial support for the watchdog committees while expressing gratitude for any contributions such as fuel, vehicles, flashlights, cash, and other resources to enhance their effectiveness in ensuring security in the community.
