The lead host of Rashid Pelpuo’s Radio station, a local station in Wa, has publicly declared support for Ambrose Dery and Amidu Chinnia Issahaku, members of parliament for the New Patriotic Party, NPP in Nandom and Sissala East constituencies, respectively.
This announcement, made through Facebook, is particularly significant given the station’s affiliation with Rashid Pelpuo, the Wa Central MP for the opposition NDC.
Home Radio was established by Hon. Rashid Pelpuo to propagate his programs and policies and disseminate information to the electorate.
Since its inception in 2019, the station has played a crucial role in campaigning for Pelpuo during the 2020 elections and the recent NDC parliamentary primaries in Wa Central.
The operations of the radio have been entrusted to Umar Yakubu Kunateh, popularly known as Asprilla, who serves as the General Manager and lead host of the morning show, Sunrise Upper West.
Asprilla has been a vocal supporter of Rashid Pelpuo and the NDC, championing their cause in the lead-up to the 2024 elections.
However, his endorsement of Ambrose Dery and Amidu Chinnia has sparked various reactions from the public and political figures. Supporters of Ambrose Dery and Amidu Chinnia have welcomed the endorsement as they view it as validation of the efforts of the two MPs.
Conversely, some supporters of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, have expressed disappointment, feeling that Asprilla’s stance may undermine their political alignment.
Nonetheless, others argue that supporting effective leadership, regardless of political affiliation, sets a positive example of prioritizing development over partisanship.
