As the December polls inch closer, the NDC in the Upper West region has constituted campaign teams at the regional level to reinforce campaigns across the eleven constituencies. One of the crack campaign teams which is led by Alhaji HUDU Mogtari had already hit the ground running.
The team which ostensibly has a task of campaigning in various communities and also meeting various identifiable groups has staunch party supporters, regional executives and constituency executives on board. The team started their campaigns in earnest, by preaching the message of hope from the NDC and also hinging their references to the remarkable developments the NDC while in government brought to the people of the Wa central constituency.
Speaking, to the people of Jengbeyiri, the Wa central constituency secretary of the NDC, Hon. Abu Salifu Tamaah expressed excitement, that women and men in Jengbeyiri could willingly come out in their numbers to listen to the NDC. ‘ I’m very serious to see many people gathered here. Jengbeyiri used to be a place where elders summoned persons who attended NDC programmes. You people used to love the NPP so much, but they never loved you back’
He urged the people of Jengbeyiri to vote massively for HE John Dramani Mahama as president and Dr. Rashid Pelpuo as MP.
On his part, the deputy Upper West regional organizer of the NDC, Prince Mahamoud, stated that, if the significant developments brought by the NDC should be taken out, then Wa would only become a pale shadow. ‘ The fact is that the NDC has brought more development to us than the NPP. Who brought us electricity? Who brought us potable water? Who brought us our hospital? Who brought us the many secondary schools across the region? It is the NDC. Just take them out and see what Wa and the Upper West region would be like.
Mr. Mahamoud further called on people to eschew politics based on religion. Dr. Bawumia is calling on us Muslims to vote for him because he’s one of us. That’s not right, it shouldn’t be about your religion but what you have done to ameliorate the plight of your fellow Muslims. ‘ How many of you can perform Hajj today? Imagine the cost involved. With John Dramani Mahama as president, we built a befitting Hajj village in Accra and also upgraded the Tamale airport to an international status to ease the pressure on pilgrims. I’m certain that Allah will be much more pleased with a Christian president with Muslims at heart ‘. He emphasized amidst thunderous applause from the audience.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Hudu Mogtari, who was also amazed with the number of people who showed up for the community engagement said he would send word to the flagbearer of the NDC that, the hearts of the people of Jengbeyiri have turned towards the NDC. He called on the people of Jengbeyiri to vote massively for the flagbearer of the NDC John Dramani Mahama and also to retain Dr. Rashid Pelpuo as MP.
Alhaji Hudu Mogtari also seized the opportunity to welcome Abdul Jalil Suleman a former polling chairman for the NPP into the NDC. According to Abdul Jalil Suleman, since 1992 the people of Jengbeyiri have been faithful to the NPP but with no corresponding development. When the NPP won, we had the regional minister and regional chairman from Jengbeyiri but what’s there to show? This storm drain and the various mechanised boreholes were done by the NDC’. He urged the people of the Wa central constituency to vote massively for the NDC.
The campaign team led by Alhaji Hudu Mogtari is expected to continue their campaigns in the Wa municipal and also extend it to the Sissala enclave in the coming days.
