The 2020 Nadowli/Kaleo parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party, NPP, Dr Elvis Banoemuleng Botah, has opined that he is the only parliamentary candidate with the magic wand to have developed the constituency since its inception.
Speaking on Nadowli-based Tumpaani FM, which was monitored by Upperwestnews, com, the two-term parliamentary candidate for the NPP who failed to win the elections stated that the constituency rather missed out. ‘After the last elections, I decided to remain mute until now. I know I didn’t lose, but rather, the Nadowli/Kaleo constituency lost a better representative.’
The former Deputy National Organizer for the NPP also stated unequivocally that, he has outperformed in terms of the provision of infrastructure and social services to the constituency than any other parliamentary candidate. ‘ I decided as the parliamentary candidate to work had to bridge the development gap in our constituency. I can confidently say, that what I’ve done for the constituency is something that posterity would be grateful for’ He added.
Dr. Elvis Banoemuleng Botah, mentioned the provision of ambulances to three Health Centers in the constituency, renovation of Tangasia and Jambogu primary school blocks, and starting the construction of a mortuary at the Nadowli district hospital amongst others.
Dr. Botah further intimated that he was rejected because of his forthrightness which people perceived as arrogance. ‘ During the last elections, people said because I had money I was arrogant and decided not to vote for me. At the time, someone said he was down to earth and you voted for him. What has he done? I challenge anyone to show me a single borehole drilled by Hon. Anthony Mwinkaara Sumah ‘.
When I told my people the truth they never listened to me. ‘ These people have found some convenient lies they keep telling our people. They claim as minority MPs they are unable to bring home the requisite development. That’s untrue, which of them have been denied their statutory funds because they belong to the minority?’. He quizzed.
Since Dr Elvis Botah took over from Dr Robinson Boye in 2016, the performance of the party took a nose dive in the 2016 and 2020 elections. The NPP has presented Hon. Francis Xavier Kambotuu as a parliamentary candidate for the 2024 elections with the hope of regaining some significant votes in the Nadowli/Kaleo constituency.
