President John Dramani Mahama has appointed renowned security and safety analyst, Dr. Adam Bonaa, as the Acting Executive Secretary of the National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons (NACSA).
Dr. Bonaa, a leading voice in Ghana’s security landscape, brings over two decades of expertise in counter-terrorism, defence, intelligence, and international relations to his new role. Known for his in-depth analyses of security, conflict resolution, and immigration, Dr. Bonaa’s appointment is expected to strengthen NACSA’s mission to combat the illicit trade in small arms and promote national security.
A distinguished scholar, Dr. Bonaa holds a doctorate specializing in security and immigration, a combination that positions him to tackle complex security challenges, especially those linked to cross-border arms trafficking. His hands-on experience in both local and international security frameworks aligns with NACSA’s commitment to eradicating gun violence and fostering peace in Ghana.
As Acting Executive Secretary, Dr. Bonaa will lead efforts to curb the proliferation of small arms, oversee public education campaigns on arms control, and provide strategic advice to the Ministry of the Interior on policy matters. His deep understanding of security dynamics is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening Ghana’s border controls and enhancing the capacity of security agencies.
NACSA, operating under the Ministry of the Interior, is mandated to prevent, combat, and eradicate the illicit trade and circulation of small arms and light weapons in Ghana.
