The Regional Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper West Region has directed Mr. Martin Wuoyang, the Nandom Constituency Secretary, to step aside immediately pending disciplinary proceedings.
The directive, signed by the Regional Secretary, Dr. Tanko Daniel Dawda, follows a petition submitted against Mr. Wuoyang regarding a statement he issued to the party’s Regional Chairman. The details of the petition were not disclosed in the letter, but it indicated that the matter has been referred to the party’s Regional Disciplinary Committee for further action.
“In line with the disciplinary and grievance procedures of the party as outlined in Article 4 of the party’s constitution, the Regional Executive Committee has referred you to the Regional Disciplinary Committee,” the letter stated.
The decision was taken at a meeting held on March 2, 2025, where the Regional Executive Committee, in accordance with Article 3(7) of the NPP constitution, unanimously resolved that Mr. Wuoyang should step aside while awaiting the recommendations of the disciplinary body.
The directive has been copied to the General Secretary of the NPP and the Nandom Constituency Chairman.
The development comes at a critical time for the Nandom NPP, as internal party matters could impact the party’s preparations ahead of the upcoming elections. Party members and political observers will be keenly watching how the issue unfolds in the Nandom Constituency.
Efforts to reach Mr. Wuoyang for comments have so far been unsuccessful.
