A trader at Kong in the Sissala East District of the Upper West Region has been robbed at gunpoint by three armed men.
The victim, Boguworun Umar trades in fertilizer, other farm inputs, and mobile money services.
According to eyewitnesses, the armed robbers stormed the town on Wednesday night at about 9 pm, fired warning shots and ordered their victim to handover his money and mobile phone. All three armed robbers arrived on one motorbike.
While one of the robbers had a gun, the other two possessed a knife and a machete each.
Speaking to Upper West News, the victim’s uncle, Laseini Forkor said “The gunshot frightened community members causing many of them to flee. The robbers took away a lot of money and the mobile phone he uses for the momo business.
At the moment we are unable to give an estimated amount taken by the armed robbers”
Mr Forkor added, “Personnel of the Tumu District Command of the Ghana Police Service arrived thirty minutes later and we narrated every detail to them. We also told them that the robbers travelled towards Sakai after the act”
Our check also revealed that community members had massed up at the crime scene.
