It was an atmosphere of triumph as scores of worshipers, the clergy, family members, friends and the public thronged Kunfabiela to welcome the new Bishop-elect in the Upper West Region.

Rev. Fr. Francis Bomansaan, M.Afr., was appointed the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wa in the Upper West Region of Ghana, by His Holiness, Pope Francis.
The appointment was announced on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, in Rome and simultaneously at the Apostolic Nunciature, Ghana and at the National Catholic Secretariat (NCS), Accra, by the Secretary General of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’Conference ( GCBC), Very Rev. Fr. Clement Kwasi Adjei, at the Pope St John Paul II Conference Hall, NCS, Accra.
Rev. Fr. Francis Bomansaan was born on 19th January 1962. He is a native of Kaleo. He took his Final Oath into the Society of Missionaries of Africa ( White Fathers) in 1990. He was Ordained into the Priesthood on 27th July 1991. From 2022 until he was appointed Bishop of Wa Catholic Diocese, he was the Superior General, Generalate, Missionaries of Africa, Rome, Italy.
