Nurideen Abdul Ganiu, also known as Anelka, an alleged ritual killer, has been remanded into prison custody for the second time by the Wa District Court.
He was thrown back into jail after the court denied his request for bail. The decision was made during a court hearing on Thursday, 8th August 2024 where Ganiu faced charges related to the alleged murder of three individuals.
The police prosecutor informed the court that investigations into the case are still ongoing and requested that the case be adjourned until August 22, 2024, to allow for further inquiries. The prosecutor emphasized the seriousness of the charges and the need for a comprehensive investigation.
In response, Ganiu’s lawyer, Daud Giaz, argued for bail, asserting that his client is not a flight risk. He pointed out that Ganiu had voluntarily surrendered to authorities and is a native of Wa with a permanent residence, making him easily locatable should the court require his presence.
Despite the argument of the defence, the presiding judge, Maxwell Maxibrain Titriku, ruled in favour of the prosecution denied the bail request and ordered Ganiu to remain in prison custody.
Ganiu is scheduled to reappear in court on August 22, 2024, as the investigation continues. The case has drawn significant attention due to the serious nature of the allegations and the public’s interest in the outcome of the trial.
