A three-unit classroom block has been completed and handed over at a Navariwie, a farming community in the Sissala east municipality of the Upper West region.
The project is one of the numerous infrastructural interventions under the Gulf Of Guinea Northern Regions Social Cohesion (SOCO0Project
It is a major relief for pupils and residents following protracted challenges with educational facilities including classrooms.
Works on the three-unit classroom block which commenced six months has since been completed and handed over. Other components of the project include a staff common room, an office, a six-seater toilet facility and furniture.
A colourful handing-over ceremony was held in the community for the official opening of the facility. The occasion was graced by the Municipal Chief Executive for Sissala East, Yakubu Batong Fuseini, Member of Parliament for Sissala East Amidu Chinnia and the Municipal Director of Education Charles Lawel.
The school block is part of SOCO’s first phase of projects in the Sissala East Municipal.
It is the fourth in the municipality after the successful completion of the municipal basketball court, Ward construction at Kong and a reshaping and gravelling of the Tumu high-tension road.
The MCE Hon. Yakubu cautioned the school authorities to exercise a good maintenance culture adding that the government is determined to fix the challenges in the educational sector.
