Ghanaians will be shocked to wake up and see Captain Smart’s face on posters of CPP as a running mate. This amounts to an insult to the party that won independence for this country.
Not long ago, this same man was given a red carpet treatment just to announce his purported coming back to the CPP, which never was true though. Soon after that wanton waste of resources that could rent a party office, Captain Smart was heard on air campaigning for JM as he told viewers and listeners why JM must win the election to save the country. Any sensible person watching or listening to him anytime gets to know his political inclinations except those that he thinks he can fool with his sentimental and apprehensive approach to issues, sometimes with half-baked facts, which often land him in problems with the law.
Also, who said an arrogant, wicked, greedy, and desperate-for-power Frimpomaa, the supposed presidential candidate of the CPP, could change her attitude overnight? The pretentious claim of her acceptance that she had made mistakes in the past and learned lessons is another ploy by her and her cronies to gain the confidence of unsuspecting comrades; who will fall for such tricks just as she did to delegates with her fake insurance in 2020. I am astonished she was allowed to repeat it to secure her promotion unmeritedly to milk the party dry again.
Furthermore, there is not a single achievement Frimpomaa can point to under her stewardship as chair and leader of the CPP. It means if it were exams, she would have flopped and been rusticated instead of being promoted to a higher position in the party. It’s all because the party doesn’t exist properly on the grounds. In principle, there is no party called CPP; it’s just a group of people who manipulate a few gullible and hungry-for-money comrades within the cult to get the opportunity to sell out the party. Which serious political party will wait till a few months to election to elect a candidate to contest the same election others have prepared very well for?
But I am not surprised the self-appointed constitutional police officers of the CPP will ignore this gross misconduct and breach of the party’s Constitution once again since it’s their own; who is involved in the clear breach of the party’s Constitution this time again. Read Article 97(b) of the Constitution of the party and educate yourself. It says the selection of the Vice Presidential Candidate:
Article 97(b): The Vice Presidential Candidate shall be selected by the Central Committee in consultation with the Presidential Candidate(CPP Const. pg:44). But where are they to quote the constitution and rant incessantly?
The alleged selection of Captain Smart to the ticket of the CPP as its vice presidential candidate is a deliberate attempt by Frimpomaa to make the bigger political parties pay more for her sellout. Who is Captain Smart and what is his political pedigree that can convince even a single person to vote for the CPP in any elections? But Frimpomaa thinks the noise he makes on air is enough to cow the bigger political parties to fear him as a running mate to a dormant political party, the CPP.
Interestingly, Frimpomaa herself was brought as running mate by Dr Abu Sakara in 2012 when nobody in the party knew her or her contributions to the party. Now, she is bent on taking over the party as a private entity or destroying it and forming a new political out of it. But the spirit of Nkrumah won’t allow her and her cohorts to destroy the CPP.
The CPP, a political party that won independence for this country has been reduced to a tool for syphoning money and other material gains for individuals at the expense of the party. If not so, why is the party always only active during general elections; when it’s obvious nothing has been done at the grassroots across the country to contest the general election? It’s a shame, and the souls of Nkrumah and other founding fathers are weeping in their graves for the party they toiled for, which has been messed up by Frimpomaa.
How can a political party that has no base at the grassroots across the country be taken seriously in any election? The CPP has always failed to do a proper assessment of itself to know why it keeps getting zeros during general elections while it claims to have members who go to Congresses sponsored by the bigger political parties to elect its executives and presidential candidates all the time. Isn’t it pathetic that less-known and recently established political parties are even doing better than the CPP?
It’s highly ridiculous to see the CPP always being sponsored by these two major political parties contesting the same elections. It’s interesting to know that the CPP receives both monetary and logistical support from these same political parties with which it contests the elections. Which serious Army General will allow his enemies to provide him with weapons and he accepts to go to war with them? This can only happen in Africa, where the smaller political parties look out for sellouts. Don’t be surprised to see many more political parties being formed in Ghana. It’s become another business venture that engages in the pervasive political thievery in the country.
While it’s true that the political narratives of this country must change from the two major political parties, who have woefully failed in managing the affairs of the country, Ghanaians don’t have any options because the smaller political parties can’t be trusted when it comes to elections because they are not poised to take political power.
